パレスチナの西岸ジェニンの南東にある小さなパレスチナ人の村アカ
バのハジ・サミ・サデクは「イスラエル兵士たちがやってきた。家を
破壊している！」と言った。イスラエル軍は１２月２３日、２軒の家
を破壊し、寒い冬のさなか、４人の大人と１２人の子供の家を奪いホ
ームレスにした。これから数日のうちに１０軒の家がさらに破壊され
る予定である。クリスマスを家で過ごす人々には、家の破壊が家族に
どのような破滅的状況をもたらすか理解できるだろう。
抗議の手紙を書くこと、それは、これまで家の破壊を阻止するために
大きく貢献してきた。１０月２３日、何百人もの人々が手紙を書いた
ため、アカバでの家の破壊は中断された。今日、みなさんの手紙はパ
レスチナ人家族の生活に貢献することができる。

I am deeply shocked at the demolition by the Israeli Army
of two
houses in the occupied village of Akaba southeast of Jenin, on
December 23, and even more so by the threat to destroy another
ten houses. This village has never caused a security problem.
The IDF apparently wants to destroy the whole village (the
entire village contains no more that 18 houses) with demolition
orders even for the mosque and the kindergarten.
In the much-publicized prime minsterial speech at Herzlia,
a
pledge was made that Israel would abide by its obligations under
the Roadmap for Peace. The destruction of a village days after
such a speech would cast grave doubts, to say the least, on
whatever international credibility the government of Israeli
still has.
I call upon you to act immediately to prevent any further
demolitions and to grant the people of Akaba permits to build
houses for themselves on their own land.
